Siueli Kaimana Hefononga Fa'avae was
recommended to the First Foundation by Robyn Rose, the Year 12 Dean
of Auckland Girl's Grammar. Ms Rose believes Siueli has the
qualities required to be part of the First Foundation family:
'Siueli has a positive attitude towards learning which is reflected
in her classroom focus and her commendable results in assessments.
She is a quiet, courteous and friendly student who relates well to
her peers and teachers.' In 2009, Siueli achieved NCEA Level 1 with
a Merit Endorsement.
Siueli serves her school first and foremost by being on the
Library Committee for the past two years. In 2010, Siueli joined
the ASTRA group, Trees for Survival and the Humanitarian activist
groups which demonstrates her concern for others and the
environment. Siueli's potential as a leader in her Tongan/Niuean
community was recognised when she was selected to participate in a
Dream Fono leadership course during the school holidays. Siueli
also displays a commitment to develop her own personal skill set
and is working towards gaining her Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Outside of school, Siueli is the Secretary of the Halahekoni Youth
Group and plays Netball and Touch. Siueli is a volunteer at the
Safe Haven rest home in Mangere.
Siueli is keen to pursue a career in paediatrics, either as a
doctor or as a nurse when she leaves secondary school. Siueli would
like to have the opportunity to help children who are born with
physical defects.
"Siueli is a courteous, quietly confident young woman with the
ability to work in a team and see things to completion. She has
represented the school at the ASTRA group and the trees of survival
and the humanitarian activist groups which has demonstrated her
concern for others and the environment. Siueli is keen in pursuing
a career in paediatric Nursing." - Mercy Thomas, Nurse Educator
