Siaosi has been the top academic performer in his year for the
last 2 years at Kelston Boys High School. His Principal says
"Siaosi is a very conscientious student, always highly motivated
with a very well-developed work ethic and a real determination to
realize his academic potential. He is a fine all-rounder, striving
to make the most of opportunities offered to him." Last year he
gained 128 NCEA Level 1 credits, many at Merit and Excellence
standard.
Outside of the classroom, Siaosi has been involved in a number of
activities at school and in his community. He is a confident,
talented speaker not only winning many public speaking awards in
English but achieving 1st prize for a Samoan speech at the Auckland
Secondary Schools Speech Competition. He uses his oratory skills as
part of the Senior Debating Team and speaking to the local Rotary
Club. A combination of his communication and social skills is
turning him into a great leader. He is currently Head of his House,
he has led sports teams, and at his church he leads the youth group
and is the Musical Director of the choir. He also spends many
voluntary hours helping younger children to read. He enjoys playing
the piano in the Stageband and takes part in the school
productions.
Siaosi has a dream of one day becoming a lawyer and a leader in
his church or community. He would like to go to the University of
Auckland to study for his law degree.
Mark Dunlop, Training and Development Manager at Foodstuffs chose
Siaosi because: "Siaosi is involved in a diverse range of
activities beyond his strong academic performance. He has well
established family values advocating and supporting these with his
friends and siblings. He is a sports leader in Volleyball and
Basketball with other interests including playing piano, leading
his church youth and full choirs. Siaosi is also an accomplished
debater, winning prizes in public speaking locally in both English
and Samoan. He has thought about a number of careers and has
settled on becoming a lawyer. He is an all round fine young man and
Foodstuffs Auckland is proud to be associated with him as one of
their First Foundation Scholars and through him with Kelston Boys
High School."
