"Sarah is a caring and compassionate young woman who is both
politically and socially aware and is able to empathise with people
who face challenges and struggles in their lives," states the
Auckland DHB Charitable Trust. She is an excellent and active
all-rounder with academic strengths in history and biology.
Sarah has developed her political and social awareness through
attending Youth Parliament as a member of the Young Greens and as
co-leader for her school's Amnesty International group. Sarah also
plays Saxophone and is part of the girls soccer team and tramping
club at school. "In each of these I have demonstrated maturity,
responsibility, and commitment to the team," writes Sarah at the
time of applying to become a First Foundation Scholar.
Sarah is articulate and determined about her ambition to train as a
nurse in 2012 through Manukau Institute of Technology, Auckland. "I
am at ease cross culturally and enjoy relating to people who are
from diverse backgrounds," states Sarah. Her desire to be committed
to helping other people is strong.
