Despite suffering great personal hardship, Safiyyah's school
academic grades were outstanding. At the completion of high school
Safiyyah had dreams to make a difference in community
health.
"Safiyyah impressed us with her courage to try new things,
her great determination, and her warm and enthusiastic personality.
She is someone who will make sure she reaches her objectives," said
Sidney Smith, Human Resource Manager at TVNZ when awarding her a
First Foundation scholarship.
Attending The University of Auckland, she graduated in 2007 with a
Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology. Following the
completion of her scholarship and undergraduate study Safiyyah
embarked on a Masters in Speech Language Therapy, graduating in
2010.
Safiyyah currently works at Stewart Rehabilitation Services NZ,
coordinating clients at 2 clinics across Auckland. Looking
forwards, she anticipates becoming a speech rehabilitation
specialist in swallowing.
