PREFECT, 2010
Renee Rowlands moved from Taupo to Auckland to live with her
extended whanau at the start of 2008 and began Yr 11 at One Tree
Hill College. "From the outset, Renee quickly slotted in, and as a
new Year 11 student she was identified as a potential leader
gaining a position on the student council. This year she was
selected to participate in the RYPEN 2009 leadership camp. She is a
friendly young woman with a cheerful disposition who easily builds
and maintains relationships with those around her. Renee is
perceptive and level-headed, with a high level of maturity for a
person of her age," commented the College's Principal.
Renee demonstrates a genuine respect for her Maori culture, her
family and her school. Her Scholarship Partner A+ Trust recognised
her as "a resilient young Maori woman with an obvious passion for a
career in Maori health." This is something she is passionate about
and is therefore currently fulfilling her goal to complete a
Bachelor of Nursing in the hope of helping to improve clinical
practices in Maori health. She is studying at MIT in Auckland and
is due to graduate in 2013.
