DEPUTY HEAD GIRL, 2009
Pena's multicultural outlook on life, charming character and
ability to empathise with others are attributes that have opened up
opportunities for her to be a positive influence in her community
and school.
Pena has been outstandingly active in her community, taking part
in her Church youth group and Sunday School Programmes. At McAuley
High School she maintained a role model attitude towards her
academic studies while also being involved with groups such as
Choir, SADD (Students against Drunk Driving) and the High Achievers
club. The Yr 12 Dean at McAuley High School described Pena as an
inspiration.
An experience at Hillcrest Retirement Village as an Age Care
Nurse in her Yr 12 cemented her building desire to complete a
Bachelor degree in Nursing with The University of Auckland and to
become a practising Nurse. Pena wants to work both in New Zealand
and other isolated countries where there are people in need.
