PEER SUPPORT, 2005 HEAD GIRL, 2006
The Principal of Tangaroa College described Naomi as "reliable,
loyal and hard working. Her ability to interact at all levels makes
her stand out as a leader amongst her people." After the death of
her parents Naomi was raised by her grandparents, with two younger
siblings who she helped to care for. Despite this commitment, she
made a significant contribution to both the school and church
community. Her determination to succeed had her completing her NCEA
2 in Mathematics and Computer Studies, a year ahead of her peers,
and being ranked 1st in New Zealand for bible studies within the
Samoan Methodist Church. In her Yr 11 she won an overall prize for
excellence, the Bev Adams Trophy and a Scholarship to attend
Hands-on Science Days at Otago University.
Roma Falck of Ernst & Young said "we were impressed by Naomi's
straight forward, honest and mature approach together with her
excellent academic achievements, family and community involvement.
Naomi is an able and well rounded - the perfect cultural fit for
our organisation."
Naomi went on to study for a Bachelor of Health Science, graduating
from The University of Auckland in 2011. In 2011 she studied for a
Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science focusing on Mental and
Pacific Health whilst working part time at Armour Guard in
Auckland. She has been a Mentor for high school students
since 2010 through the Pacifika Medical Association.
