Right from her first interview with First Foundation Kanna stood
out as a student of calibre. Her scholarship partner The Madison
Group recall interviewing Kanna: "Kanna stood out because of her
creativity and fit with the Madison values and culture - she
reminded us of Rebecca Morgan - a special member of the Madison
team from 2003 to 2004, who this scholarship is in memory
of."
Kanna is very strong academically. At Avondale College, in her Yr
11, she came 1st in Cambridge Music, Geography and Business
Studies. Kanna's diverse school and community commitments reflect
her nature to pursue challenge with enthusiasm, positivity and a
clarity that sees her constantly succeed. Kanna is also a fine
violinist and plays in numerous school groups.
Conjoint Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce degrees in Film,
Media, Sociology, Marketing and Economics are Kanna's plans for
tertiary study at The University of Auckland. Beyond that she hopes
to pursue a Masters in Film and a career as a filmmaker. She
writes: "I would like to use my passion for film to work alongside
not-for-profit organisations both in New Zealand and around the
world, and use visual media as a medium to raise awareness, provoke
thought, and inspire change in society."
