At the time that James was awarded a First Foundation
Scholarship, his Principal described him as "a highly personable
young man; his discipline and self-motivation are exemplary,
resulting in a creditable array of results from a dedicated and
determined student." James' passion for music was evident at
school and continued on into tertiary studies.
James studied a Bachelor of Music and a Postgraduate Diploma in
Music at The University of Auckland. He graduated from both
qualifications in 2010. James is currently working as a Sound
Engineer and Production Assistant for Auckland-based Advertising
Agency 99 where he works with clients such as New World, Air NZ and
Farmers. In addition to full time work, James continues to develop
his work as an independent Sound Artist through collaborative sound
and movement projects. Recent projects include The Live Series,
Exposure Research Competition (UoA), Beijing Modern Music Festival
and the 2010 International Film Festival.
