PREFECT, 2010
This talented young student of Maori and Samoan descent
understandably holds a fair amount of excitement knowing she is the
first grandchild on both sides of her family to ever attend
university. As a student, her Yr 12 Dean described her as 'a highly
self motivated and focused,' with the potential to excel at
tertiary level.
During her time at Aoere College, Jacinta stepped up into several
leadership positions (including Prefect) as a positive role model
for others. She fulfilled these positions to the highest of
standards. Participation in Softball, the Samoan Cultural Group and
Mentoring kept Jacinta busy, as did receiving a JENYSYS Scholarship
which allowed her to travel with a study group to Japan in late
2009.
Jacinta's people skills and warm, bubbly personality are perfectly
in line with the heart and style of the Auckland City Mission.
Diane Robertson, City Missioner at the Auckland City Mission
described her aptly: 'Jacinta is a very confident and personable
young woman who communicates clearly and eloquently. Her desire and
determination to succeed is evident, as is her willingness to help
others.'
Jacinta is currently enrolled at Victoria University and is
studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration.
