The Principal of Avondale College supports
Danica MacLean's Scholarship with the First Foundation: 'Danica is
a highly capable student and a talented all rounder. She has all
the personal qualities needed to make her successful in her future
studies and career.' Danica achieved highly in the IGCSE
assessments in Year 11, gaining an A* in Biology, A passes in
Computer Studies and Mathematics and a B pass in English.
Danica is a talented sportswoman and is a member of the 1st XI
Football team and 1st XI Cricket team that competed in the National
Secondary Schools' tournament. Danica has received the Avondale
College Silver and Bronze Awards for Service to Football. Outside
of school, she is the Captain of the Waitakere City Football Club
under 17 side and is a member of the Massey Swimming club, where
she also volunteers with the junior squads.
At the completion of secondary school, Danica intends to study at
Auckland University of Technology (AUT) towards a Bachelor of
Communication Studies. She wishes to become a sports presenter and
dreams of calling a New Zealand athlete's event as they win Olympic
Gold.

select a student who is interested in sport, and Danica's interest
extends past just playing sport to sports broadcasting and media.
