"Crystal's initiative, courage and 'can do' attitude in addition
to her ability to deliver positive results across various arenas of
her life stand her in good stead for future success," said Rowie
Daken, HR Associate at Ford, about their First Foundation scholar
Crystal.
This willing risk taker is a young lady who succeeds as both a
proficient sports player and an academically strong student.
Crystal's achievements as a volleyball player are outstanding. At
school she is an excellent team player and capable captain and
coach for Senior Premier and Junior teams. Outside of school she
has played as a representative for the Manukau South Club and
participated in AUT's Shine Programme, through which she learnt
from top athletes about achieving goals both physically and
academically. In 2010 she was awarded the Mangere College Senior
Scholarship in recognition of her high school grades.
Having grown up in financially challenging circumstances, Crystal
has a growing passion to help others in similar situations to make
informed financial decisions. Her ambition is to become an
Accountant so that she can offer this help. Crystal aims to study a
Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting at The University of
Auckland in 2013.
