Angela, a mature student and good leader, will be the first of
her family to gain a tertiary level qualification. At Mana College,
she was noted as a positive role model for her peers in the way
that she balanced the demands placed upon her from home, her church
and school. Recognised as a leading member of the student body, she
was presented with the prestigious 'Special Award for Outstanding
Service to Mana College' in 2007. Her leadership abilities did not
go unnoticed outside of school either. Also in 2007, she was named
'Youth Leader of the Year' at her Church.
Mike Knell from NZ Community Trust saw in Angela 'the desire
necessary to endure and excel on the journey ahead' and saw huge
potential in her as she embarked on her First Foundation
Scholarship.
She is currently studying Pacific Studies at The University of
Otago and will graduate in 2012.
