Ane, the oldest of five siblings from a strong Tongan family was
endorsed by her Deputy Principal as 'a consistent performer across
all subjects, who enjoys learning and discovering new concepts. She
has very firm plans about what she wants to achieve in life and has
thought carefully about the steps she needs to take in the next few
years to achieve her ambitions.' At school she dreamed of being the
first member for her family to go on to tertiary education.
According to Rebecca Condon of Kathmandu it was a number of
impressive factors that contributed to Ane being selected as their
First Foundation Scholar for 2008. Ane works hard at Kathmandu to
help support herself living and studying away from home. She has
appreciated the support of a secure job and the sage advice and
encouragement from her Mentor Louisa Sutton.
She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Law at The
University of Otago and hopes that her continued education will
help her to positively support her extended family and
community.
