At the time of her application to First Foundation, Alice lived
with her mother who had suffered from a stroke and her older
sister. Being awarded a First Foundation Scholarship has been a
chance to "lessen the pressure on my family and help me become the
independent person I hope to be," says Alice.
According to her Principal at Birkenhead College, Alice 'possessed
a natural charm, dignity of spirit and sense of proportion that
belies her years. She inspired trust and earned the respect and
admiration of teachers and peers alike.' At school Alice was an
enthusiastic musician, she captained her Badminton team and was a
Student Librarian. She demonstrated her leadership skills as a
Youth Parliamentarian and also held a sound academic record,
achieving particularly highly in English, History and
Statistics.
With interests in teaching and advertising, Alice is studying for a
Bachelor of Communications at AUT.
